I was recently in a record store, you know doing the usual, browsing the various artists when I came across some really ace album art. It was "The Crane Wife" from The Decemberists. I kept it in mind all evening and as soon as I had a chance I googled the artist. Turns out to be Carson Ellis. Gawd, I love her work and I hope you do as well. Take a look at a few of pieces work below or go to her website at: http://carsonellis.com/index.html

Hey guys! It's almost the new year and I can't believe it. This year has flown by SOOO fast. Anyway, I've been working tons and currently trying to keep myself occupied outside of work with hobbies and other interests. I'm actually kind of glad that December is over with, it felt like Christmas for literally one day and before I knew it, it was over.
The other night after work, I headed downtown with the mission to find a New Year's dress and had to make a stop at the BMV, it's crazy how many hours I can spend in that store. Just when you think you're about ready to leave another book or knick knack catches your eye. I picked up this really awesome "Petite Livre" or you could also define it as a zine/scrapbook by Sonja Ahlers, it's actually really amazing, it features illustrations from some of my favourite Illustrators such as Kelly Smith. It's called the Selves, check it out or look below! For her blog check out: http://sonjaahlers.blogspot.com/
I also received some great books from some great people this Christmas season which I'm so happy to share with all of you. One being my long awaited, "The Selby is in Your Place" book from Joe and "An Illustrated Life" from my lovely cousin Anna who received me as a Secret Santa this year.  My brother gifted me with an awesome bookcase and desk combo, I'm so excited to assemble that bad boy and display all my books, records and hoarding randoms :)
In an addition to all these wicked books, I purchased one more from work last night. I've been melting over Sibella Court's styling skills and had to buy "Nomad" as well. If you don't remember I posted about her "etc" book recently, and I'm so glad I made that decision to scoop this one up too!

Been on a book binge lately, there are a handful of books that I'm just to eager to get a hold of. A few are sold at work so I'm pretty stoked to scoop them when my bank account allows me.
Still, I know I've been MIA in the whole blogging scene but I'm still trying to get used to my new schedule. So please bear with me.
I also wanna mention that I'm reading Shadow of the Wind Carlos Ruiz Zafón; its definitely a lot more different than my usual read but I must say I'm enjoying it a whole lot.

Hey guys, I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart for not having posted in a while. My schedule has drastically changed over the last two weeks due to a new job! I'm glad to inform you all that I will be posting more new stuff soon, I just need to get myself together. Please stay with me! But in the meantime, check it out, check it out, check it out, I bought a Kalman book! :)
A painting I did during the summer of my skull girl, still in the process of giving her a name.
It's that time again here in Canada, where the leaves turn to vibrant hues of warm colours in contrast to the bitter chill in the air. Sooner than later, the snow will be coming, it's time to bust out my scarves, hats and mittens. Gawd, I love dressing for this season (who doesn't?) knits and chunky sweaters, gotta love all the accessories and fun stuff! In my apartment I like to keep feet nice & cozy with my pandas, they say "hello!" :)

Next on the list of book purchases is Maira Kalman's second newest book: Various Illuminations (of a Crazy World). She has a new book called And The Pursuit of Happiness that was published the same year but I've been really putting the purchase of Various Illuminations off for  a while now. I'm super excited, she
Okay, so I realized maybe you don't know who Maira Kalman is.... Check out some of her pieces down below! :) You could probably recognized some of work from either children's books or The New Yorker.

I bought this book the other evening and I can't wait to start baking these bad boys. It's great, the books have all the recipes and you can mix and match flavours. I can't help but mention as well that the illustrations are so cute and fun, how can someone now wanna bake these after flipping through this book?

Here's another artist I recently stumbled upon while browsing a few magazines, Sasha Foster. She's actually an artist from Toronto but I promise I'm not being biased. I really enjoy seeing people's skill with watercolour, I'm not very good at it myself, so when I see people with these really cool pieces, I just can't help but respect it. Check it out some pieces below & check out her portfolio website.

Spent a chunk of my day yesterday at a book store to do some reading (magazines & books) and to get some sort of inspiration (I ended up buying a book and already half way through it!).
Whenever, I feel in the dumps I always find myself alone, you know to get some piece of mind. Anyway, I came across a few artists I wanna share with you but the first one is Matt Duffin, he' absolutely astounding, he uses encaustic wax on different surfaces and they are so so so great. I was so intrigued by his intetview in ELEPHANT His work is photographed above, the objects he's illustrated are so defined and detailed, I don't know where he gets the patience to do this!
I'm also currently working on a piece and I'm almost done, can't wait to show ya.
Check out more of Matt Duffin's work here.

Check out Hideyuki Katsumata's work!
I initially was really intrigued by the Little Dragon's cover for the newest album "Machine Dreams" so I did my research to find out who illustrated their album art and low and behold, I discovered Katsumata. I really, really, really dig his vivid colours and little creatures.

I don't know what it is but I have this fascination with typography. I think it definitely changes a design, concept or an idea with a simple change in font, leading and overall the general flow. Whether it's hand drawn, computer generated or even made out of different objects, I can't help but always stop and analyze. Even sometimes in my moleskine, I find myself doodling different ways to illustrate a word or an idea, so much fu
