I was recently in a record store, you know doing the usual, browsing the various artists when I came across some really ace album art. It was "The Crane Wife" from The Decemberists. I kept it in mind all evening and as soon as I had a chance I googled the artist. Turns out to be Carson Ellis. Gawd, I love her work and I hope you do as well. Take a look at a few of pieces work below or go to her website at: http://carsonellis.com/index.html

I’M SORRY!
I know, I know, I know I haven’t posted anything in a while; I’ve been super busy with work and such. This summer has flew by, jeez!
So, my record player was acting up a couple months ago but luckily I brought it to Bay Bloor radio and they fixed it. I highly suggest going there if you have any issues with your devices, they have a place called the “record clinic”, where you bring in your record player and they check it out for free; the only thing you would have to pay for is any parts needed. I’ve been on a crazy record binge lately, photographed below are a few that I’ve picked up recently. I’ve been fiending for more and more lately it seems like I can’t go to the city or thrift store without coming home with a new one … or two. To make even worse, I even steal (borrow) some from my lovely boyfriend, I don’t know what to do with myself.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking lately about the upcoming year and it scares me a little (actually, a lot) that I’m not going back to school, that I’m done. Done!? This is the first time in twenty two years that I’m not going back to school in September. It’s hitting me pretty hard… but that’s enough of the whining, should I be excited? Hmmmmmm.

Here’s a list of the records, just in case some aren’t recognizable. I also put in brackets the tracks I’ve been addicted to on each album :)
1. Little Joy: Self Titled (Track 5: Unattainable)
2. Deer Hunter: Halcyon Digest (Track 8: Helicopter)
3. The Black Keys: Magic Potion (Track 3: You’re the One)
4. The Specials (Track 1: A Message to you Rudy)
5. Zeus: Say Us ( Track 5 & 6: Greater Times on the Way side – River by the Garden)
6. A Tribe Called Quest: The Low End Theory (Track 5: Verses from the Abstract)

Was on location for a shoot today at Bloor Cinema and HAD TO run in to Sonic Boom before call time to grab some new records.. how exciting! What a treat to come home to some tunes before hitting the hay after a long long long day. I'm also very proud of myself, I fixed my record player myself with my handy dandy screwdriver :)

Went to see these boys last night at the Kool Haus as a birthday gift from my good friend Karol. They played so well and I'm so glad I ended up going to this show. I was just a little disappointed with their merch table though, they had no vinyls & the shirts we're pretty tacky :(

I received such great gifts yesterday, my friends really know me. Joe got me Blood Sugar Sex Magik on vinyl a record that I've been planning on purchasing for a while & I'm so stoked that it's my collection now, he also gave me a Dr. Martens gift certificate ... also something that I've been planning on buying :) Mugs? you can never have too many! My girlfriends from school gave me some VV gift certificates, amazing. All in all, I had such a great birthday.

So the VMA's graduating class of '11 has been working steadily towards our Year End Show (which will take place this Wednesday April 20th at Edward Day Gallery) and even though we're all so anxious and nervous, it's all beginning to come together. I think it's more important for all of us to be excited but it's easy to feel overwhelmed thinking about what needs to be done.
I attended the Illustration's YES this past Thursday & as soon as I walked in, I started to feel uneasy because it automatically made me think about the VMA's YES and what's going to happen at our show. Anyway, you just gotta come and check us out & see what the VMA program at Sheridan is really about!
Photographed below is a little something something I made specifically for the YES, it's kind of a promotional marketing piece. I guess it's easier to hand this to people instead of having to constantly talk about myself :|. The 45 is just a random record, I wish I had chosen a record that I liked but I can't see myself destroying a record I intend to listen to in the future. Everything was designed by yours truly & includes: my business card, a record & a comp card.

It has been long awaited but I finally purchased that Crosley record player I've been anticipating. Unfortunately, my record collection isn't large at all; at the moment I only have two records spinning, Room on Fire and Is This It but it's something. I also received that really great Revolver mug as a gift, now I'll be drinking my coffee/tea with the Paul, Ringo, George and John :)
I'm also very happy to say that, tonight I'm going to see WAVVES and BEST COAST at the Phoenix, I am absolutely ecstatic!! (that deserves two exclamation marks)
